Perception

Hey guys! Hope you're having a great morning! For this post, it's going to be a bit different from my other ones. For this project, all you're going to need is a paper and pencil (doesn't have to be fancy, any pencil would work).
Materials: the sketch pad is from Michael's arts and craft: Sketch pad
If you are on a budget and want to save money, you can also use printer paper
You can use this coupon for the sketch pad, I always use this site when going to Michael's: coupons

Today, we will be working with perception. I drew an image of trees. It portrays the depth of paper by creating different size trees. Here is the final product.

I will show you the step into making this or a similar artwork using depth and shading.
Step 1: Find a spot you want to put your main focus on, for me I put my tree on the right side
Step 2: Begin creating and shading your tree to make it pop out. For the best look, shade the edges of the tree and branches
Step 3: Continue to shade until you get your desired look.
Step 4: Now, you can start to add other elements to slowly complete the art, I decided to add in a swing and some trees to create the illusion of further trees.
Step 5: Add a path way to lead to trick the eyes of the viewers

And there you have it, a perception artwork that can be framed and hung in the house. Feel free to create other artworks with perception. Thanks guys and have a great dayy!! ENJOY THE WEEKEND!

Thoughtful Cards

Hey guys! My friend's birthday is around the corner and I wanted to make something more meaningful and thought for her. So I came up with this great birthday card idea. Here is an easy and fun way to make cards for friends and family! Here are a few items you need to make this fun card!

Scrapbook paper (any color of your choice), ruler, stickers and anything that would add more color to your card.

This is the front of the card, using 3 different colors and design of scrapbook paper. The, "Happy Birthday," is a sticker. The card is held together with velcro. =)
The card opens up to the name of the person and if you open that flap it shows...
Here is a video with a better look of the card

Goodie/Foodie Box

Hey guys! Hope you are having a wonderful day. With the weather warming up, I wanted to make some fun crafts for the spring season! I have created a giving box. A giving box is like a card that includes a box for goodies. I started off with card stock papers and scrapbook papers. the 2 large card stocks are 6 1/2 in x 5 1/2 in. The three panels of card stocks are 6 1/2 in. x 1 1/2 in. (I decided to discard the two square pieces) .
In the picture above, I glued the card stock to the scrapbook paper (You can use any color and patterns you would like), I dedicated to pick a spring solid color. Make sure everything is lined up straightly and spaced out. Each card stock should be about 1 centimeter away from each other. (Hint: best way to space out the card stock evenly is by vertically putting a card stock between the measured papers and making sure it can easily fold)
To cover the inside of your giving box, I used a pattern scrapbook paper that matches the blue.
In order to make the box inside, The measurements of the box should be a slight smaller than your cover (6 in. x 5 in.)
In the giving box, you can leave goodies such as cookies, candy or little gifts!
Here is a video of the giving box!

SHOWER TIME!

Hey guys! I hope you are having a fantastic day!
For my first post I wanted to share my experience on planning an exciting event. I had recently helped a friend with her baby shower and knew it would be a good idea to share my ideas.
This is one of my bigger projects from a couple months ago. I had the honor of hosting and decorating a friend's baby shower. I stayed up all night figuring out what we wanted to include and how to tie the whole theme together. I was filled with excitement after hearing that it was going to be safari theme! I played with colors such like green, orange, yellow and blue. Here are a few pictures from the event.

A few items such as the animal prints were purchased from Party City.  I had so much fun making the cake, it was rolled up and tightened with rubber bands. So here's how you can make a diaper cake for your friend's baby shower! Purchase a box of Huggies (140 cts.).Roll each diaper individually and secure with a rubber band. A bag of rubber bands can be purchased at the dollar tree. Color of rubber bands does not matter, as seen in the picture it will be covered with the animal ribbons. The top tier can have 30 diapers, 2nd tier 50 and the bottom tier will have 60. The numbers of diapers on each tier may vary depending on how tight the diapers are rolled up, feel free to play around and adjust if needed. (Tips: Roll each diaper in the same size to avoid any unevenness.)
The ribbons and wooden animals on the cake are from Michael's. In the left corner, we made cake pops and dipped it in orange and yellow chocolate.  The small flavors were made with golden boxes, tissue, construction paper and skewers. We also wanted to include some savory treats, so we added in popcorn containers. Popcorn containers can be purchased at Party City. Customized the popcorn containers with construction paper and print outs.
Hope you guys enjoyed this awesome baby shower idea!

Oh, it's like music to my hears, "Let's go to Michael's," "Let's go to Hobby Lobby," "Let's go to JoAnn's." I'm a child in a candy shop when I see colorful papers and fun crafts; the temptation and resistance is real. Hi, My name is Jacklyn and I'm a business student who loves to explore my creativity. When I do arts and crafts, I'm enabling my creativity to kick in while releasing stress. It is therapeutic and a way to express a side I never knew I had. I also enjoy the, "Oh my goodness, this is a one of a kind gift!" comments when I make a gift for a friend; it shows that you care for the person enough to make them a special gift.

Welcome to, "Jacklyn's Crafty Spot," a place where you can be inspired to customize your own gifts. This blog encourages you to seek out the right blend of colors and textures. I will showcase my artwork and share ideas from other sources. Come along with me on this journey to explore our artsy side.
